1945 - Vannevar Bush proposes Memex in ‘As We May Think”, as well as alluding to it earlier.
1965 - Ted Nelson coins the word "hypertext".
1967 - Andy van Dam works on The Hypertext Editing System and FRESS, at Brown University,
1968 - Doug Engelbart demo of NLS system - the first demonstrated, working hypertext system. And I was born, two months after the demo.
1984 - Apple introduce the Mac and all is well and elegant. A new category of users can have access to the power of computers. Which was great, but ease-of-use took precedence over ‘augmentation’.
1987 - Apple introduces ‘HyperCard’, written by Bill Atkinson. Hypertext for the masses. A simple and incomplete incomplete implementation, but hugely successful.
